ArmInfo. A regular meeting of the Armenian Security Council is being held in Yerevan under the chairmanship of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Opening the meeting, Pashinyan recalled that the previous Security Council adopted a new National Security Strategy of the country, and literally after a short period of time, the relevance and viability of this document was recorded.
"It was recorded that we correctly assessed the threats to the security of our country, in general, the strategic assessment of our security environment was carried out at a high level," Pashinyan said, noting that after the adoption of the strategy, the well-known Tavush events took place - the victorious battles in Tavush.
At the same time, he stated that during the previous period, Azerbaijan held the position that it was making concessions to Armenia and the international community, not solving the Karabakh issue by military means and not initiating military actions.
"And during all this time, we urged the leadership of Azerbaijan not to speak with Armenia from a position of strength, in the language of strength, since this is unpromising rhetoric. And, in fact, the victorious July battles essentially proved this and that there is no military solution to the Karabakh issue. I think that the time has come for the Azerbaijani authorities to accept this, because I have said many times earlier that if there is a military solution to the Karabakh problem, then the people of Artsakh can state that they have solved it and completed it long ago, "Pashinyan said.
The head of the Armenian government also stressed that Armenia's position on the Karabakh issue was and remains constructive. In this regard, he recalled that Armenia has always stood for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh issue through negotiations, regardless of the political origin of the governments and authorities.
Pashinyan also touched upon Turkey's destructive policy in our region, in the world in general, and which is also reflected in the RA National Security Strategy.
"I think that Turkey's destabilizing and destructive activities cause serious concern and concern among our partners both in the Middle East and in the Eurasian and European regions. This is essentially an already formed agenda. And on this agenda, our actions should also become the subject of serious discussions in the Security Council, government, Foreign Ministry, and we will discuss issues related to this at today's meeting.
In general, the most important thing that I would like to state today is that the Republic of Armenia is capable of withstanding security challenges. At the same time, we must challenge ourselves to improve the manageability of our security environment every week, every month, every year. And the Security Council is the very working format where such issues need to be discussed and resolved, "Pashinyan stated. The agenda of the Security Council meeting includes a number of issues related to the security sector. Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan also participates in the meeting of the Council.
