ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sarkissian wrote a letter to the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, in which he invited the latter to visit Yerevan and take part in the "Armenian Summit of Minds" scheduled for October 10-11. ArmInfo was informed about this in the press service of the RA President.
Noting that this year's summit will be dedicated to geopolitics, energy and artificial intelligence, Sarkissian expressed hope that the IAEA Director General will contribute to the success of the conference. According to him, participants representing different fields, combining politics, science and business, will present the richness and diversity of views on the topics presented.
"Basing on the successes of 2019, we will strive to make the summit in Armenia an annual event. Organization of the summit outside Chamonix (France) will expand its geography, open up new ideas and opportunities," Sarkissian said.
He also added that energy in general and nuclear energy in particular are in his special interests, and in this context recalled that he was the first chairman of the Global Council on Energy Security, World Economic Forum in Davos, and often spoke about the role of energy in the modern world.
At the end of the letter, Sarkissian informed Grossi of the details of the offensive actions initiated by Azerbaijan in mid-July on the Tavush section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. According to the President, at a time when the coronavirus has become a serious challenge for almost all countries of the world and nations, Azerbaijan is attacking Armenia. According to him, Azerbaijan's attack on civilians, schools and infrastructure facilities, as well as the threat of rocket fire at the Armenian nuclear power plant are unforgivable.
