Lukashenko: Transnistria, the Caucasian tangle of contradictions, the  Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict still remain unresolved in the  post-Soviet space

"Contradictions have escalated in the South China Sea region, where  huge reserves of oil and gas are concentrated. There are tensions on  the Indian-Chinese border as well. To protect itself, China is forced  to intensify its military construction. Situation is tense on border  between India and Pakistan - countries with nuclear weapons.

We again observe flaming hotbeds of instability in North Africa and  the Middle East. Passions are being whipped up in relation to Iran,  Venezuela, Syria, and other countries that allow themselves an  independent, freedom-loving policy. And in the post-Soviet space, for  decades, we have not been able to resolve a lot of old conflicts:  Transnistria, the Caucasian tangle of contradictions, the  Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.  Moreover, we also got Ukraine,  "Alexander Lukashenko noted.

"And Russia is afraid of losing - after all, besides us, it has no  truly close allies. And the West has recently begun to show more and  more substantive interest in us. Everyone knows our answer: Belarus  is not friends with someone against someone. We are for a  multi-vector, consistent and predictable foreign policy, " the head  of Belarus said.

At the same time, he stressed that world players are using the  pandemic as a cover for the unceremonious realization of their  interests. "The pandemic has exposed all the systemic problems. This  topic has actually become a cover for the unceremonious realization  of their foreign policy and trade and economic interests by the main  world players," Alexander Lukashenko is convinced.

He stated that a tough confrontation has developed on all fronts  between the world's largest economies - the United States, which over  the past decades has actually been the sole world leader, and China,  which has burst into the world elite and stands for real  multipolarity. "The European Union and Russia, also claiming leading  roles, have not remained aloof from these processes. In a word, they  are shaking the entire planet.  Moreover, Japan, Korea, Brazil,  India, the Arab world and a number of other leading economies have  not yet said their word. "the head of state said. According to the  President of the Republic of Belarus, the whole world plunged into  the chaos of trade wars, national protectionism, political and  information confrontation.

"Integration structures are experiencing a systemic crisis, and some  have collapsed altogether and exist only on paper," he noted. Brexit  has become the most powerful indicator of this process in the EU, as  well as the aggravation of contradictions between old and new Europe  within the union.

Tensions are growing in the military field, which is giving rise to a  new round of the arms race. Think about it: more than a third of the  world's states are involved in armed conflicts, directly or  indirectly.  Thinking about this, you understand that our planet is  gradually but surely sliding towards the abyss. The worst thing, according to the head of state, is that the  international legal and multilateral political instruments of  settlement, which the countries were so proud of during the Cold War,  have actually become an anachronism and are not taken into account by  anyone. "The world ruling elites, unfortunately, were unable to  develop new ones. Sensible politicians are talking with might and  main about an acute deficit of a full-fledged dialogue in  international relations. But they are not being heard," the  Belarusian leader summed up.
