ArmInfo. In Russia, the recent aggravation of the situation on the border of friendly countries to the Russian Federation Armenia and Azerbaijan, was perceived with great concern. On July 30, during a briefing, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Zaitsev said this when answering the question whether it is possible to speak of mutual understanding or common views between Russia and Turkey on the Karabakh settlement, taking into account the recent negotiations between Putin and Erdogan on this issue.
"We are convinced that the long-term Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, like any other disagreements in the international arena, must be resolved exclusively by peaceful means, through diplomatic negotiations. Our position is invariably shared by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs - the United States and France, as well as the UN, CIS and other international organizations ", said the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, Zaitsev added that the Russian side with its Turkish counterparts had substantively discussed the current situation in Transcaucasia and specifically in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement at the level of heads of state on July 27, and foreign ministers on July 23.
"We mutually stated serious concern about the dangerous development of the situation in the region. Russia and Turkey proceed from the lack of alternative political and diplomatic solutions to existing problems, on the basis of the principles of international law, in the interests of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are determined to continue working with our partners, including Turkey, in order to stop a new round of tension, stabilize the general situation in Transcaucasia, actively promote the establishment of a political dialogue between Yerevan and Baku, "the Russian diplomat concluded.
To recall, the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border took place on July 12 and lasted for several days. The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia subjected to artillery fire not only the positions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, but also the Armenian border villages. As a result of these actions, a civilian of the village of Chinari was injured, and civilian infrastructure was damaged. According to official data, 5 servicemen were killed from the Armenian side, 36 more were wounded (5 seriously), from the Azerbaijani side - officially about two dozen. The Armenian Armed Forces announced the destruction of 13 Azerbaijani drones, including one Israeli Elbit Hermes 900. Since July 17, the situation at the front line has relatively stabilized.
