ArmInfo.A man was detained for attacking the Armenian Church of St. Gorigor the Illuminator, located in the Uskudar district of Istanbul.
The Istanbul Prosecutor's Office told Turkish media that an investigation was launched. After two months of investigation, the court ruled that the accused was Mazlum. D. was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison.
The detainee wrote in his confession that he had diabetes and was unable to work; in his testimony he said that he acted in this way under the influence of his illness. Mazlum insisted that there was no reason for his actions and he was sorry.
As you know, earlier, in May 2020, Mazlum D. tore down and threw a cross installed on the entrance gate of the church. The moment of the attack was recorded by the church security cameras.
