ArmInfo.Armenia circulated a note to the OSCE regarding the suspension of inspection visits from Turkey to the territory of Armenia within the framework of CFE TREATY and the Vienna Document.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports. According to a July 12 source, Turkey, in the context of Azerbaijan's attack in the direction of Tavush, is supporting Azerbaijan and unprecedented threats against Armenia, which, in addition, is manifested in the large-scale military exercises launched on July 29 with Azerbaijan near the borders of Armenia. Taking into account the current situation, on July 29, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the OSCE issued a note informing the OSCE participating States and the CFE TREATY (Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe) participating States that the RA will now suspend inspections by the Republic of Turkey or the participation of representatives Turkey as invited inspectors in scheduled inspection visits to the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of CFE TREATY and the Vienna Document.
According to the note, this decision of Armenia was made on the basis of the CFE TREATY principles and the Vienna Document and proceeds from the national interests and security considerations of Armenia. Any inspection visit to the territory of the Republic of Armenia by Turkey, which openly supports the military actions of Azerbaijan against Armenia and comes out with unprecedented threats, in particular, starting on July 12, 2020, will negatively affect the security interests of Armenia and may harm the security of the population.
Armenia reaffirms its adherence to CFE TREATY and the Vienna Document, stressing that only the inspections of the Republic of Turkey or the participation of Turkish representatives as invited inspectors in scheduled inspection visits to the territory of the Republic of Armenia are suspended.
