ArmInfo. The most anti-Armenian resolution in history has been submitted to the US Congress. Political scientist and expert on American studies Suren Sargsyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
As ArmInfo previously reported, Steve Shabo, co-chairman of the group on Azerbaijani-Turkish issues of the US Congress, proposed to amend the Law on State Defense. The amendment requires reporting on internally displaced persons in Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Azerbaijan since 1991.
"The Legal Commission of the House of Representatives of the US Congress included a resolution with such a shameful wording in the 2021 National Defense Approval Act. " The Secretary of State, together with the Secretary of Defense, submits to the appropriate Congress commissions a report on the state of internally displaced persons in Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Azerbaijan. The report should contain the following estimates:
1. The number of citizens of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Azerbaijan who were forcibly displaced by foreign forces from the territory of countries that have been illegally occupied since 1991;
2. The number of persons killed in Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Azerbaijan in the illegally occupied territories since 1991 ".
There has never been such an anti-Armenian resolution, "the expert wrote. At the same time, he stated that if this resolution is adopted also in the Senate, it will become a serious precedent and headache, significantly affecting the prospect of being included in other documents, including international ones.
"Sargsyan also added that the Azerbaijani lobby spent a lot of money on this.
