ArmInfo. As part of the working visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, to Minsk, the head of the Armenian government met with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
During the conversation, the President of Belarus emphasized that today's meeting is a definite step towards deepening bilateral cooperation and interaction within the framework of the EAEU. "I know that a serious exchange of views took place, and I was told that you were the engine of this meeting," addressing Pashinyan, Lukashenko said.
He emphasized that the problems both in Armenia and Belarus are the same within the framework of the EAEU: <We have almost the same economies based on the real sector. We do not have large reserves of carbon, like our other colleagues. With falling prices, Russia and Kazakhstan have great opportunities, which we do not have>.
At the same time, the Belarussian leader stated that there are still many problems in the EAEU, which is related to the failure to fulfill the agreements reached earlier. In this regard, he pointed out problems at the border. <Even business shows that there are no borders, and the seizures and tensions at the border are excessive. Therefore, we have something to work on. I would very much like this meeting of the Prime Ministers to give an impetus to the solution of existing issues>, Lukashenko said.
In turn, Nikol Pashinyan said that during the meeting a report was presented on the elimination of 10 barriers. In this vein, he reported good results, in particular for Armenia. <We had to remove 2 barriers, which we managed to do. One decision has already entered into force, the second has been adopted, but will come into force a little later>, he said, emphasizing that in fact, within the framework of the EAEU, 8 out of 10 barriers have already been removed.
In addition, Pashinyan said that the issues of participation of the EAEU enterprises and organizations in government programs were discussed. He said that as a result of the discussions, a fairly good solution was reached. In this vein, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that as a result of today's meeting, this issue will also be resolved. <The meeting was effective, though it was delayed, but I think it was worth so much work on the projects, because specific issues that were of interest to all of us were resolved. I think if we can keep the political will at the current level, we will be able to resolve all issues. It's only necessary to work on this>, stated the Prime Minister of Armenia.
According to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, during the meeting Nikol Pashinyan also touched upon the escalation unleashed by the enemy on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and passed the details on to his Belarusian counterpart. It is reported that the interlocutors discussed a number of issues on the agenda of the Armenian-Belarusian relations, exchanged views on the possibilities of overcoming the coronavirus pandemic and overcoming the crisis.
