Former Minister of Defense: Situation on the border may be due the negotiation process, which, according to Baku, is proceeding  slowly

ArmInfo. First of all, we must rely on the information disseminated by the Armenian Ministry of Defense. Former Minister of Defense of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan stated this in an interview with RFE/RL's Armenian Service.  According to Ohanyan, the provocation was organized by the leadership of the Azerbaijani  Armed Forces.

<This situation may be related to the negotiation process, which,  according to Baku, is proceeding slowly.  Or is it an attempt to put  pressure on the international community, or all this is connected  with the internal problems of Azerbaijan. Everyone knows that as of   today they have accumulated a number of problems.  They have economic  problems, water problems, oil prices are falling, there is an  increase in opposition sentiment>, the former minister emphasized.

Ohanyan noted that in recent years, Azerbaijan has been trying to  influence our society with such actions.  <However, the Armenian  Armed Forces confidently carry out the task assigned to them. This is  a local incident for which our Armed Forces should be prepared. Such  local conflicts always have consequences, but I think there is no  reason to start large-scale hostilities. The Armed Forces of Armenia  and the Artsakh Defense Army are ready for any actions, not only  defensive, but also preventive, "the former Minister of Defense  concluded.
