ArmInfo. The healthcare system of Armenia is ready to overcome the challenges arising from the coronavirus pandemic. Deputy Prime Minister and State of Emergency Commandant Tigran Avinyan, stated this, during a special meeting in the Armenian parliament.
The Commandant noted that for inpatient treatment of patients with coronavirus, about 2,500 hospital beds were allocated in March of this year, of which more than 300 resuscitation beds. <For patients with coronavirus, medical care is provided in 19 medical centers, of which 7 are located in regions and 12 in Yerevan. Retraining courses for doctors were also carried out, they participated in various webinars>, Avinyan emphasized.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that specialists have arrived in Armenia to assist Armenian doctors from a number of countries. <As of July 6, 46 specialists from Germany, France, Russia, Lithuania and Italy arrived from Armenia from abroad. These are doctors of anesthesiology, resuscitators, virologists, epidemiology and nurses, "he emphasized.
Avinyan noted that more than 2,000 tests for coronavirus are conducted daily. The increase in the number of tests was facilitated by the fact that they began to conduct private laboratories. <It also helped us that tests for coronavirus began to be produced in Armenia.. From China to Armenia, a special flight delivered ventilation devices, tests for coronavirus, protective clothing and masks. But, it is impossible to fight the pandemic only with the help of the medical system>, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Avinyan said that citizens should comply with all anti-epidemiological measures. <We decided on the need to wear masks to stabilize the situation duet o the spread of the virus. And the situation has stabilized, however, some citizens don't wear masks, as evidenced by violations established by the Armenian police>, the Commandant noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that only if all citizens comply with all the instructions of the Commander's Cffice, in that case the number of cases will decrease and only then will some restrictions be lifted. "And only when we can overcome the pandemic can we return to normal life," Avinyan emphasized. The commandant said that the government is also developing its further strategy. <According to preliminary calculations, in early September, about 140 cases of coronavirus infection will be recorded in Armenia. This is preliminary data. However, if we see that the medical system is overloaded and unable to treat patients at the proper level, we will be forced to re-introduce restrictions>, Tigran Avinyan concluded.
