EA head appealed to members of Congress on the issue of providing  external assistance to Artsakh

ArmInfo. The head of the Enlightened  Armenia EArliamentary faction, Edmond Marukyan, appealed to members  of the US Congress on the issue of providing external assistance in  021 (FY2021 Foreign Aid Bills). This Marukyan said on his EAge on  the social network Facebook.  The deputy, in EArticular, noted:  "Stressing the importance of the continuity of mine clearance works  carried out in Artsakh through the organization of <HALO Trust> over  the years, I emphasized the importance of these works in terms of  saving the lives of civilians in the conflict zone.

These works guarantee the saving of thousands of lives in Artsakh. In  EArticular, since 2000 in Artsakh, about 500 mined territories were  cleared. These works are also of great importance in terms of  establishing peace in the region.

The Armenian-American friendship has proved its strength in  protecting human rights and democracy, as well as in guaranteeing  peace and security.

As William Fulbright said, the greatest merit of the legislator is  not what he could do, but what the latter prevented, "concluded  Marukyan. Note that in March 2020, 75 congressmen from 23 US states  sent a letter to the subcommittee on external operations  Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives of the US  Congress with a proposal to provide Armenia with $ 100 million to  support the economy, ensure security and the rule of law. Another $  1.5 million is proposed to be sent by Congress to assist in mine  clearance and rehabilitation of mine victims. Congressmen also called  on the subcommittee to stop assisting Azerbaijan as a country  subjecting aggression to Armenia and Artsakh.
