ArmInfo.The newly elected President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Robert Spano, proposed to the Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan to initiate a joint program, which will be aimed at developing the international experience of cooperation between European Ombudsmen and the ECHR.
''As a keynote speaker during these events, the ECHR proposed the candidacy of the Ombudsman of Armenia. We also reached an agreement that this can be done either in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, or in some similar format'', Tatoyan said on his Facebook page.
He had held effective consultations with the head of the ECHR yesterday, who noted the importance of the Armenian Ombudsman speaking as a third party in the ECHR. <Also, the chairman of the ECHR touched upon the importance of presenting to the Directorate General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law of the Council of Europe our independent assessments related to the implementation of court verdicts by Armenia, " the Ombudsman said.
The Ombudsman said that Spano also praised the importance of the reports of the Ombudsman of Armenia for the ECHR.
