ArmInfo. RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araik Harutyunyan received the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Victorin. According to the press service of the ministry, the parties touched on all current programs implemented with the assistance and partnership of the EU in the fields of education, science, culture and youth.
Harutyunyan expressed gratitude both for the assistance to comprehensive reforms carried out in the fields of general education and science, and for the assistance provided by the European Union in the context of the state of emergency caused by coronavirus. The Minister noted the importance of developing new educational opportunities these days by building distance education infrastructures. He also said that all possible scenarios for resuming the educational process in September are being discussed.
According to him, the state standard of general education has already been put into circulation, the trial application of which is provided for in 2021. As for educational and youth strategies, these documents are still under development, and will be submitted for public discussion later.
In the framework of EU-Armenia cooperation, he emphasized the importance of the activity of information centers on exchange programs in the fields of education, culture and youth in Armenia.
Ambassador Victorin, thanking for the meeting, said that she was impressed by the successes achieved by Armenian experts in the field of science. According to her, in addition to financial support, the EU is ready to provide expert support in the process of developing strategic documents.
The parties praised the implementation of the Creative Industry program, which is aimed at creating sustainable foundations for the development of the cultural sphere in the regions, as well as the Armenian- European research cooperation scheduled for 2021 within the framework of the Horizon Europe program.
