ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a telephone conversation with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Ricker.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the interlocutors exchanged views on the problems caused by the new type of coronavirus and steps taken to overcome them at the national level, emphasizing the need for international solidarity and cooperation in combating the epidemic. In this context, Mnatsakanyan thanked the US government for the financial assistance provided to Armenia. The parties raised a number of issues on the bilateral agenda. The importance of continuing contacts, including remote ones in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, and implementing the agreements reached within the framework of the Armenian-American strategic dialogue and the Armenian-American trade and investment council was indicated.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the reforms carried out by the Armenian government in such areas as the fight against corruption, justice and law enforcement agencies. In this context, the RA Foreign Minister praised the continued support provided by the United States.
During the conversation, Mnatsakanyan and Riker also touched upon cooperation with citizens on the issue of reception. Pointing out the value of Armenia's efforts in this direction, the US diplomat noted that the US Department of Homeland Security excluded Armenia from the list of high-risk countries and included it in the list of states cooperating on readmission.
In the context of cooperation within the framework of the Alliance of Religious Freedom, Mnatsakanyan presented the programs initiated by Armenia to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of religious and ethnic minorities in the Middle East. The interlocutors also discussed a number of topical issues of the international and regional agenda, touched on the latest processes in the settlement of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict.
