Armenian President Armen Sarkissian received the head of the EU delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, Ambassador of France Jonathan Lacote, German Ambassador Michael Johannes Banzhaf, Italian Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco and Lithuanian Ambassador Inga Stanyte-Tolockiene. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Avet Adonts also took part in the meeting.
The President, in particular, touched upon the situation that has developed as a result of the coronavirus, raising a number of challenges, including those regarding economic difficulties and food security issues. In addition, the topic of recent developments in the country and constitutional reforms was also raised.
Speaking about constitutional reforms, Sarkissian noted: <The Constitution should be balanced, based on deterrence mechanisms and balances. I support the implementation of constitutional reforms>.
Taking the opportunity, the President of the Republic expressed gratitude to international partners for assisting Armenia in difficult times. Noting that this is a difficult period for everyone and it will not end soon, he emphasized the importance of mutual assistance, joint work and efforts. <If we do not work together, we will limit our success.
