ArmInfo. Investigative authorities have responded harshly to criticism of head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Ruben Vardazaryan, which was voiced on June 23 in a television interview.
<During the interview, regarding the issue of public mistrust in the judiciary, Vardazaryan stated that <we have not very competent investigating authorities and inadequate prosecutorial supervision>, and that the latter <literally throw poorly investigated cases to the court >. He also stated that "we do not have illiterate judges".
In this regard, we consider it necessary to clarify that Ruben Vardazaryan's generalized and inappropriate assessments, which are unbecoming of the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, insult the employees of the preliminary investigation bodies, casting a shadow on the work that they do, which requires high responsibility. Of course, it is possible that there will be investigators in the investigative bodies whose professional qualities so far need to be improved. However, not excluding this circumstance, we assure that as of today in the investigative system there are many professional investigators with brilliant legal knowledge, principled and high moral qualities who, sparing no effort, conduct an effective and high-quality investigation of even the most difficult criminal cases.
With his assessments, Ruben Vardazaryan insults hundreds of investigators of the preliminary investigation bodies. We believe that the subjective assessments of the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council are not only poorly substantiated and unfounded, but also do not proceed from the status and rules of ethics held by the official.
We expect that Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan, will at least publicly apologize to the preliminary investigation authorities for his insulting opinions, and continue to show the necessary restraint, refraining from voicing unreasonable and incorrect statements about the work of the investigating authorities>, the joint statement of the RA Investigative Committee, the RA Special Investigation Service and the Investigative Department of the SRC of the RA reads.
