ArmInfo. RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan sent a letter to the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli regarding the underlined pro-Azerbaijani statement of the three deputies of the European Parliament.
Recall that on June 10, members of the European Parliament adopted a joint statement by the chairman of the delegation, Marina Kalyurand, European Parliament's permanent rapporteur on Armenia Traian Basescu, European Parliament's permanent rapporteur on Zhelyana Zovko, who criticized the construction of a new road between Armenia and Artsakh. We add that the intention of building a new 150-km Kapan- Gadrut highway was announced last year by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan.
On his Facebook page he presented an excerpt from his letter to Sassoli. It specifically states: <This statement is particularly unacceptable, given the current period when the President and the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan threaten to start a new war. Such statements by EU deputies can be used by anti- democratic and militant officials of Azerbaijan as an endorsement of the use of military force and the outbreak of aggression against the people of Artsakh. I should add that we are concerned about the behavior of the co-rapporteur on Armenia Basescu, who is known for his close ties with the leadership of Azerbaijan and in the past made conflicting observations about the Armenians living in Romania. This gives reason to believe that Basescu is not able to abandon his former ties and take a conscientious and inclusive approach to his current responsibilities>.
