ArmInfo. It is completely obvious to everyone that the petition of the Prosecutor General to deprive Gagik Tsarukyan of parliamentary immunity is illegal. MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction, press secretary of Gagik Tsarukyan, Iveta Tonoyan, announced this on June 16 during a meeting of the National Assembly.
The MP stated that the storyteller Hans Christian Andersen had a serious rival in the person of the Prosecutor General of Armenia Arthur Davtyan. "However, I want to note that you were not able to assure anyone that there was at least some evidence in the application that you submitted that would directly point to Gagik Tsarukyan," Tonoyan emphasized.
The press secretary of Gagik Tsarukyan noted that the head of the PAP was being prosecuted. In turn, Vice-Speaker of the parliament from the PAP, Vahe Enfiajyan, stated that it was initially obvious that the case against Gagik Tsarukyan was fabricated. <The persecution against Tsarukyan began after the head of the PAP voiced his critical assessments regarding the authorities. We are now talking about the head of the largest opposition party in Armenia, he has come a long way. Moreover, I am one of the founders of the PAP and I do not know any of those people whom you included in your motion. This is an attempt to denigrate Tsarukyan and I am categorically opposed. Obviously, this is not a legal process, but a political process for all parliamentary factions, Armenian parties, human rights defenders, "the Vice- Speaker noted.
Arman Abovyan, secretary of the PAP faction, also considered everything that was happening to be a farce. <I am very curious to watch the Prosecutor General try to assure us that the milk is black. In the materials that you provided to us there is not single evidence that proves the guilt of Gagik Tsarukyan. You didn't present anything to us. There is no reason to institute criminal proceedings against Tsarukyan. You yourself understand that you are participating in political persecution. Are you scared or is this your choice?>, Abovyan asked.
In response, Arthur Davtyan said that no one tried to intimidate him and all the ongoing processes strictly correspond to the law.
It should be noted that the parliament is discussing the deprivation of head of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan of parliamentary immunity.
