ArmInfo. In connection with the synchronous statements of the Azerbaijan MFA and three deputies of the European Parliament regarding the construction of the road connecting Artsakh with the Republic of Armenia, the Artsakh MFA issued a statement.
The implementation of communication projects linking Artsakh with the Republic of Armenia and the outside world is especially relevant against the background of Baku's ongoing attempts to isolate Artsakh by manipulating certain principles of international law. At the same time, the Azerbaijani authorities do not even hide that they are considering the blockade, including the air one, as an integral part of their general strategy aimed at the physical destruction of Artsakh and its inhabitants. One of the markers of Azerbaijan's anti-human policy is the threat of the Azerbaijani authorities to bring down civilian aircraft. It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani authorities openly demonstrate their neglect of international law. The quintessential attitude of official Baku to international law is the phrase of the President of Azerbaijan that "international law does not work in the world today, international treaties are just a piece of paper, have no value".
Secondly, the statement of individual European deputies is their private opinion, which does not comply with previously adopted documents of the European Parliament, including resolutions on the inadmissibility of the blockade of Artsakh. The fact that some of the authors of the statement were awarded state awards of Azerbaijan, largely explains why their position fully coincides with the position of official Baku. The bias of the statement of the European deputies is so obvious that it cannot contain any useful message and play a positive role in "creating conditions conducive to trust, peace and reconciliation", about which the mentioned parliamentarians allegedly bake.
Even more cynical is the attempt by the authors of the statement to cover up their commitment to the peace process under the auspices of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group. Using politically motivated language that contradicts the terminology of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and misleads the international community about the essence of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, the three European deputies are actually damaging the peace process.
We are convinced that a just settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict is possible only on the basis of a man-centered approach. Attempts to isolate an entire nation, the threat of its physical annihilation, obstructing the realization of individual and collective rights of people are remnants of the past and cannot take place in the modern world, "the MFA Information and Public Relations Department of the Artsakh says in a comment.
