ArmInfo. A group of Georgian doctors will be sent to Armenia to assist in the fight against a new type of coronavirus (Covid-19). As ArmInfo was informed in the press service of the RA Embassy in Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said this during a government meeting today.
The Georgian Prime Minister emphasized that not a single country in the world is capable of withstanding the crisis caused by this pandemic.
At the same time, he said that Georgia is discussing the issue of assisting neighboring Armenia and the relevant instructions were given to the Ministry of Health.
"We should show mutual support in relation to each other. As you know in our neighboring countries, the situation has been quite aggravated in the last period. I personally contact the Prime Minister every day, as well as the ministers of health, economy and the foreign ministry. We have already identified what kind of help is needed to our neighbors. Mutual assistance is extremely important. The Ministry of Health has already been given the task of preparing the assistance that Georgia can provide to neighboring Armenia. As you can see, this will be primarily the assistance of medical staff, "Gakharia emphasized.
It should be noted that the Georgian side has repeatedly expressed its readiness to assist Armenia in the fight against the pandemic. Parties reported holding consultations in this direction. Moreover, the Armenian community of Georgia has already sent 27 mechanical ventilation devices to their homeland, and fundraising is also underway.
