ArmInfo. <We have not abandoned our political goal of reforming the Constitutional Court, and using the legal opportunities provided, we will realize it. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan stated this on June 10 in an interview with reporters.
<One of the ways to resolve this issue is to discuss it in parliament and find a solution. The second is to hold a referendum on constitutional amendments. One way or another, but we will find a solution to this issue>, the minister stressed.
Papikyan also noted that the government's actions on the issue of changing the composition of the Constitutional Court are not ends in themselves. <All our actions come exclusively from the interests of the citizens of Armenia. All our actions are transparent and we are not hiding anything>, the minister emphasized.
To note, the referendum on constitutional amendments was to be held on April 5. The campaign began on February 17 and was supposed to last until April 3. Suren Papikyan was appointed head of the campaign headquarters. The draft amendments to the Constitution provided for the termination of powers of Chairman of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan and members of the court appointed before the reform of the Constitution in 2015. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the referendum was postponed indefinitely.
