ArmInfo. The external security environment of the Republic of Armenia has not undergone positive changes. This is stated in the vision of the Minister of Defense of Armenia David Tonoyan regarding the priorities and goals of the Armed Forces of the country. According to him, on the contrary, the conflict in our region and its environs is growing day by day, moreover, the global pandemic has temporarily limited the possibilities for cooperation, and immediate military threats remain highly probable.
"Therefore, a reliable defense system, primarily a modern and efficient army, remains the main guarantee for the formation of long-term security guarantees both in Armenia and Aratsakh, as well as providing the necessary safe environment for the sustainable development of the two Armenian states, ensuring stability in the negotiation process on the upland the Karabakh settlement and speaking in the peace process from a position dictating the will of the people of Artsakh, "Tonoyan noted.
At the same time, the head of the Armenian defense department noted that over the past period the army's tasks have not changed, Armenian troops continue to be deployed opposite our enemy - along the state border of Armenia and the entire line of contact of the Artsakh forces - actively using new technical means, improved methods and ways of carrying out combat duty roster. According to him, units continue to participate in exercises and trainings, mastering the new generation weapons and offensive tactics. According to him, the Armenian intelligence continues to control the enemy, with deeper and wider involvement, and the air defense system continues to carry out daily duty, holding at gunpoint targets of different sizes and flying at different heights, and aviation continues to improve its air superiority skills, mastering multi-functional new generation aircraft, and their own engineering and radio-electronic systems every day increase the ability to suppress possible enemy actions both on the ground and in the air. Pointing to the global trends in the development of military art, Tonoyan noted that they are so fleeting that it is impossible to keep up with them, not only from the point of view of the need to ensure an adequate scientific base, but also to possess the resources necessary for this, and most importantly their proper implementation. Pointing out that in some armies it is not only possible, but also encouraged to use new technologies, the Armenian Minister of Defense emphasized that the Armenian Armed Forces have no right to make such experiments and innovations that can, at least temporarily, block our defense and combat readiness of the army. On the other hand, according to Tonoyan, it is unacceptable to neutralize threats of a military nature, relying on outdated knowledge, experience, strategy, control procedures and weapons. "They are clearly outdated and could become more dangerous for our defense in the near future. In a rapidly changing security and military environment, we must have advanced capabilities to predict existing and potential military threats, allowing us to anticipate, evaluate, prevent, deter and ultimately Therefore, it's important for us not only to acquire modern military knowledge, which will become obsolete over time, but also to introduce flexible procedures of "continuous training" and adaptation to a changing security environment, "said the head of the Armenian defense department. In conclusion, Tonoyan expressed his conviction that in order to achieve this goal as soon as possible, an initiative culture must be rooted in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
