ArmInfo. Yesterday, the parliamentary committee to investigate the events of the April war of 2016 completed its work. On June 5, an MP from the Bright Armenia faction Gevorg Gorgisyan stated this during parliamentary briefings.
The lawmaker noted that, in general, the work of the committee was rather constructive. "However, then our colleagues sharply changed their behavior. When the head of the committee Andranik Kocharyan began to summarize the results of the work, he stated that the opposition was not interested in the effective work of the committee. It's a lie. After we returned to work, we actively participated in all meetings of the committee. And the last meeting, in which, through video communication, the former president of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan was questioned, took place without our knowledge," Gorgisyan emphasized.
The lawmaker stated that only after journalists asked him to comment on the meeting, in which Bako Sahakyan took part, he was provided with a list of issues discussed at the meeting. <It seems that they want to remove the opposition from all affairs, they want to silence us. Moreover, it seems to us that the committee members want to draw up a report on the work done without the participation and consideration of the opinion of the opposition. However, this will not happen. We will take an active part in the preparation of the report>, Gorgisyan concluded. It should be noted that after a fight in parliament, the members of the Bright Armenia faction did not attend parliamentary meetings and parliamentary committees for some time. As a result, members of the faction missed two meetings of the committee to investigate the events of the April war of 2016. However, as Gorgisyan stated, the Bright Armenia members familiarized themselves with all the video recordings from the meetings.
To recall, the parliamentary committee to investigate the circumstances of the April war in Karabakh was created in 2019. The Committee included representatives of all factions of the National Assembly. The purpose of its work is to identify possible errors, shortcomings or inaction on the part of the then authorities during the aforementioned period of aggravation of the situation at the border, which led to the death of more than 100 Armenian troops. The committee was visited by the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, former Minister of Defense of Artsakh Levon Mnatsakanyan, head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Artak Davtyan, former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan, while former Chief of the General Staff the Armed Forces of Armenia Yuri Khachaturov refused to attend. The former president of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan, participated in the last meeting of the commission through video communication.
