ArmInfo. A 4-year-old child with asymptomatic coronavirus was diagnosed with Kawasaki syndrome. The Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Torosyan on his Facebook page announced this. <Recently, in different countries there has been an increase in the incidence of children with Kawasaki syndrome, which some researchers have associated with the epidemic of coronavirus disease. The causes of Kawasaki syndrome are not completely known, but it is mainly associated with an autoimmune response in infectious diseases.
It is mainly observed in children under the age of 5 years. Considering international statistics, we reserved in advance expensive immunoglobulin drugs intended for the treatment of this syndrome. I hope that the child will recover quickly; doctors assess his condition as moderate.
I urge everyone else, both adults and children, to strictly observe anti-epidemic rules, not to succumb to the temptation of close communication with each other, always wear a mask, and often wash or disinfect hands. It is necessary to limit all contacts of no critical importance in order to break the chains of transmission of infection>, Torosyan said.
To add, a rather rare Kawasaki syndrome causes the involvement of the cardiovascular system in the pathological process, as well as damage to the coronary arteries with the development of aneurysms. Some scholars suggest a correlation between the increase in cases of Kawasaki syndrome among children and the spread of a new type of coronavirus. As of June 2, 1,0009 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the republic, 3,427 people recovered, 158 died.
