ArmInfo. A number of public organizations urge the Government of Armenia and the Commandant's Office to again impose strict quarantine in Armenia in connection with the growth of coronavirus cases.
The authors of the statement in particular note that the quarantine regime must be introduced for a period of 14 days to stabilize the situation with the spread of coronavirus. It is also indicated that law enforcement agencies cannot fully control citizens' compliance with the rules of mandatory wearing a mask, and this measure is violated both in public transport and in public catering and trade places. Moreover, the increase in cases of coronavirus can lead to a collapse in the healthcare system, especially given the recent statement by the head of the RA Ministry of Health about the low number of free intensive care beds deployed to treat coronavirus. <As of May 26, Armenia ranks fifth among the countries of the world in the number of infected per one million inhabitants, second only to Qatar, Chile, Djibouti and Kuwait, "the statement said.
In this regard, public organizations require strict quarantine for two weeks to allow citizens to leave their homes only in case of emergency and, in parallel with these measures, conduct a population test on COVID-19 and continue to provide assistance to disadvantaged groups.
The statement was signed by the Union of Informed Citizens, Helsinki Citizens' Assembly-Vanadzor, Asparez Journalists Club of Gyumri, Tatevik NGO, Center for Legal Research and Development, Public Information Club <Society Without Violence>, Public Association < Consumers' Consulting Center >.
In total, 7774 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the republic, 3255 people recovered, 98 died. Currently, 4377 patients are receiving actual treatment.
