ArmInfo.Azerbaijan is trying to belittle the participation of the Armenian people in the World War II. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a press conference on May 16, commenting on a statement by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made to TASS about the alleged glorification of fascist criminals by Armenia.
To recall, Ilham Aliyev stated that a six-meter monument was installed in Armenia a few years ago to the fascist executioner and criminal Garegin Nzhdeh. "The crimes of this man have been proved: this, incidentally, is also evidenced by documents published on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Victory by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This is the man who during the war said: "Who dies for Germany - dies for Armenia." This is the man whose sabotage activities led to numerous casualties. And it is no coincidence that he was arrested after the end of the War by Smersh, sentenced to 25 years and died in Vladimir prison>, the President of Azerbaijan said.
In response, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reminded Ilham Aliyev of the magnificent celebrations held in Azerbaijan in honor of the 130th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Nazi Mammad Rasulzade, with the participation of which the Azerbaijani Legion consisted of 75,000 troops was formed. Nikol Pashinyan showed photos of the form of this legion, as well as postage stamps, envelopes with images of Rasulzade. Also, the head of the Armenian government showed a photograph of the newspaper "Azerbaijan", published by Nazi-Azerbaijanis.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that 600 thousand Armenians participated in the Second World War, of which 100 thousand were in the armies of the allied countries, 300 thousand died or were missing. During the war, the Armenian people gave 65 generals, and during the time of the USSR 115 generals and 4 marshals. During the war, 6 Armenian divisions were formed. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 107 Armenians, 27 of whom were from Karabakh.
