ArmInfo. With the assistance of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, consultations are continuing on the fate of other prisoners in the Karabakh conflict zone. This was announced during a weekly briefing by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, when answering the question of how Russia relates to this initiative of Azerbaijan to exchange prisoners and hostages according to the "all for all'' scheme proposed to Armenia on May 13.
"Issues related to the exchange and facilitation of the fate of persons detained in the territories of the parties are constantly on the agenda of the negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. Last year in Moscow it was decided to visit the prisoners by their relatives. Then Azerbaijan and Armenia returned one prisoner. "With the assistance of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, consultations are continuing on the fate of other prisoners. We will closely monitor their progress," Zakharova said.
It should be noted that there are no Azerbaijani prisoners in the territory of Armenia, two Azerbaijani saboteurs are serving life sentences in prison in Artsakh. Three Armenian civilians are officially on the Azerbaijani side, who were sentenced to various prison terms in Azerbaijan on far-fetched charges. Azerbaijan is ready to return Armenian prisoners in exchange for two Azerbaijani saboteurs convicted by a court of Nagorno-Karabakh to life imprisonment for murders with particular cruelty.
