It should be noted that on June 16, 2009 Armen Ashotyan was appointed to the post of Minister of Education and Science of Armenia. On April 2, 2017 he was elected as a lawmaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the then ruling Republican Party of Armenia. He was the head of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.
