ArmInfo. The Armenian government, both in the fight against COVID-19 and in other matters, acts publicly and transparently. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on May 14 at a cabinet meeting.
According to him, the development of events demonstrates the need to extend the state of emergency, a decision on which will be made a little later. As Nikol Pashinyan noted, over the past few days, over 100 new cases are recorded daily in the republic. Another 142 cases of coronavirus incidence were registered in Armenia yesterday, and here, as the Prime Minister noted, it is important to understand the reason for this phenomenon. According to the head of government, the reason is more socio-psychological in nature. Among the citizens of the country, rumors about the mythical character of COVID-19, about the overestimated scale of the epidemic, etc., are actively circulated, but the government of the country acts openly and transparently in its policy. The problem is that in 75% of cases the disease is asymptomatic, that is, a person who has a low temperature undergoes testing, whish turns out to be positive. Moreover, often the patient, having undergone a course of treatment, does not even believe that he has caught an infection. The very first case, as a result of which the patient was cured in the Nork infectious diseases hospital, is concrete evidence of this.
For the most part, as noted by the Prime Minister, people aged have more severe symptoms of COVID-19. And it is for this category of citizens most deaths occur, the total number of which is 49. However, as Nikol Pashinyan emphasized, it is necessary not to follow the path of restrictions, but the path of compliance with all safety standards.
There should not be a return to isolated regime. But this will happen if the republic is faced with an Italian scenario. Back in March, it was predicted that a repetition of the Italian scenario in Armenia could lead to 10 thousand victims. And today it is difficult to predict how the situation will develop in the future. For these purposes, the number of beds has increased significantly - from 300 to 1,500. And if the situation leads to the appearance of 1,500 real patients in need of treatment, in this case a return to restrictive measures is not ruled out. Currently, out of 2217 cases, 600 people need real hospital treatment. The state was able to meet the needs for masks and gloves by 100% by organizing its own production. Nevertheless, as the prime minister noted, everyone's responsibility is important in the fight against the virus. It is necessary to maintain social distance, do not touch your face with dirty hands, and monitor sanitary and epidemiological standards.
