ArmInfo. Robert Kocharyan's defense continues to insist on changing the preventive measure against the second president of Armenia.
On his Facebook page, lawyer Aram Vardevanyan noted in particular that after the hearing on May 8, when the relevant applications were submitted, 509 new cases of coronavirus and 4 deaths were recorded in Armenia. Meanwhile, Robert Kocharyan is at risk for COVID-19 and, in addition to this, he underwent surgery today. Vardevanyan also said that, according to information available to him, 3 cases with symptoms similar to coronavirus were recorded in Yerevan Kentron Penitentiary Institution. In this regard, he noted that, according to legal standards, human life and health are a priority.
To note, today the RA Ministry of Justice has denied rumors about cases of coronavirus in the Yerevan Kentron Penitentiary Institution, in the prison of which the former head of state is in custody.
To recall, Robert Kocharyan was charged with overthrowing the Constitutional system in the framework of the events of March 1, 2008. On May 8, the lawyers of the former head of state submitted applications for the release of Kocharyan on personal guarantee, release on bail, as well as a change in the preventive measure. The decision will be announced on May 13 at 5:50 pm.
