On the Museum page you can find exclusive, archival photo and video materials, documents and people who created the history.
The publishedmaterials are devoted to the creation and development of the railwaysystem of Armenia, starting from the period of the Russian Empire, and the Soviet period to the heyday of railway transport and railway infrastructure in Armenia.
In addition, a virtual video tour of the Museum from its keeper Nikolayos Ter-Karapetyan has already been posted on the page.
"Our present and effective future largely depends on how carefully we keep history, how deeply we know and analyze past mistakes and appreciate past good luck," said Senik Muradyan, project initiator, head of the technical policy department of SCR. According to him, in parallel with the creation of the Museum page, the task of digitizing historical materials will also be solved.
The Railway Museum of Armenia was opened at Yerevan Station in 2009. Over the years, the museum has collected an extensive exhibition on the history of the railways of Armenia, which dates back to May 1895. The oldest exhibit (19th century) is a steam locomotive operated in tsarist times. South Caucasian Railway CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railways OJSC and implements concession management of Armenian railways. The jelly road infrastructure of Armenia was transferred to the concession management of CJSC "UK Railway" in accordance with the Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. The concession management term is 30 years with the right to extend for another 10 years.
