ArmInfo.Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Daria Volodina sharply criticized the appeal of Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar to Ukrainian officials to refrain from using the term "Armenian Genocide."
"The next rock bottom is hit. After talking with representatives of the Foreign Ministry last year, it was clear that some employees of this ministry were deeply indifferent to the fate of Ukraine and individual citizens. But the absolute illiteracy of certain people who work there is another serious problem.
Here is another proof of this. And I, as the deputy head of the friendship group with Armenia, can't ignore it. According to my information, these were sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to state bodies under Poroshenko and, as I understand it, the deputy minister decided to continue this tradition. And it's absolutely unimportant that the country has survived the revolution, that they are now implementing a huge number of reforms and that literally, on the eve of this newsletter, a scandal broke out with the leadership of the Russian Federation. We still stubbornly continue to impose the stigma of "Kremlin agents" even on other countries. And I do not want to mention that this is an official document of a diplomat. DIMLOMAT !!! However, I have no heart to call the person who wrote such a letter a diplomat.
I'm sure that everyone who understands the absurdity of such statements will agree with me and tell the deputy minister their opinion on this matter, "Volodina said, posting a copy of this letter from Bodnar on her Facebook page.
At the same time, the Ukrainian diplomat recalled that the Armenian Genocide was recognized by such countries as the USA, Italy, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal and many others. "With all due respect to our strategic partners, I think we should at least refrain from such letters, especially from the Foreign Ministry," Volodina said.
Earlier, a letter was circulated to the media by Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar to Ukrainian officials, asking them to refrain from using the term Armenian Genocide.
The letter in particular states that Ukraine does not recognize the Armenian Genocide, and the diplomat asked Ukrainian officials to refrain from participating in commemorative events on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and to refuse to use this term.
To note, Ukraine has not officially recognized the Armenian Genocide. But, now the Verkhovna Rada is considering a draft resolution initiated by People's Deputy Anton Polyakov "Draft Resolution on the Recognition of the Armenian Genocide" (registration No. 2376 of 11/05/2019).
