ArmInfo. The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan rejected the lawsuit of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharian against the RA Criminal Executive Service. This is reported by the judicial information system DataLex.
To recall, the lawsuit contained a requirement to refrain from violating the rights of the former president, that is, torture and inhuman treatment. According to the defense, Kocharyan is also at risk for COVID-19, taking into account his old age and the presence of health problems. At the same time, international structures have repeatedly voiced the call to review preventive measures in connection with the epidemiological situation in the world. Earlier, Kocharian's lawyers came out with a demand to release the second president of Armenia from under arrest due to the risk of the spread of the coronavirus.
A lawsuit of a similar content against the Republic of Armenia (in the person of the RA Criminal Executive Service) demanding to refrain from violating Kocharian's rights and prevent possible damage was submitted earlier to the Administrative Court. It was twice returned to the plaintiff for revisions, and for the third time again sent by the defense for consideration.
Robert Kocharian is being accused in the March 1, 2008 case. The charges were brought under Article 300.1 of the RA Criminal Code (Overthrow of the Constitutional System).
