ArmInfo. The court of general jurisdiction accepted the lawsuit of the owner of TV5 Armen Tavadyan against the head of the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression (CPFE) Ashot Melikyan. The claim voiced a demand to refute the public statement made by Melikyan on March 4: <We know how he hit the demonstrator with a bottle and how he tried to bribe him>. In addition, the plaintiff claims compensation for moral damage in the amount of 2 million drams.
To recall, Tavadyan was detained on December 24, 2019 in Yerevan. He is suspected of attempting to bribe a witness to alter his testimony in the March 1, 2008 case. Earlier, a video was published by the Police, according to which, as reported, one of the supporters of the former president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan suggested that the witness in the "March 1 case" change his testimony in exchange for money and a good position. On March 12 this year, the Criminal Court of Appeal, chaired by Judge Alexander Azaryan, decided to release Armen Tavadyan. In this regard, later the Armenian Prosecutor's Office filed a cassation appeal.
