ArmInfo. Repatriates will get the opportunity to import their personal property into the territory of Armenia free of duty. The Parliament of Armenia at the meeting on April 17 in the second and final reading adopted the draft amendments to the law "On Customs Regulation".
According to the co-author of the document, MP, Sisak Gabrielyan, the ongoing processes in the world associated with the COVID-19 pandemic indicate that the safest place is the home. On the issue of repatriation, the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia will cooperate with the RA Police, in particular, with the visa department, and the office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. Each family will have the opportunity to transport three household appliances, one car, one set of used furniture and clothes in unlimited quantities to the territory of the republic. Those who have been absent from Armenia for at least 915 days will be entitled to transportation. Upon arrival in Armenia, they will be required to register their status with the Passport and Visa Department within 60 days, after which they must register their property with the State Customs Office of Ararat within 18 months. This period is necessary for the repatriates to determine their further actions- will they remain in the republic, or not?
Earlier, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan noted that there is repatriation to Armenia, but it has not yet reached the desired scale. He noted that in order to achieve the desired results, it is necessary to create minimum conditions - to simplify bureaucratic processes and create a body that will deal with the integration of Armenians from the diaspora.
