ArmInfo.Today, the second round of the presidential election has started in Artsakh.
Starting from 08:00 local time, polling stations were opened throughout the republic - a total of 282. According to the official data of the NKR CEC, 103 thousand 637 NKR citizens have the right to participate in the electoral processes.
We also note that the elections are held in an emergency situation introduced in Artsakh on April 12 in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, on this basis, additional measures will be taken at all polling stations to prevent the spread of the virus.
Recall that on March 31, presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Artsakh.
According to the Artsakh Central Election Commission, none of the voters overcame the necessary threshold, as a result of which a second round was appointed. Former NKR Prime Minister Araik Harutyunyan will compete for the president's place, who in the first round secured the support of 49.26% of voters and Foreign Minister Masis Mayilyan - 26.4%.
At the same time, five parties entered the new parliament of Nagorno-Karabakh. The majority of votes were won by the Free Homeland / United Civil Alliance bloc (40.4%), led by ex-Prime Minister Araik Harutyunyan. Also, the United Motherland parties - 23.63%, Justice - 7.9%, ARF Dashnaktsutyun - 6.4% and the Democratic Party of Artsakh - 5.81% passed to parliament.
