ArmInfo. As a result of the agreements between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Georgia, in close cooperation with the American Councils, on April 9, the return of Armenian and Georgian students studying in various US high schools under the FLEX program was organized.
This is set out in the statement of the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Anna Naghdalyan, which also recalls that the Armenian Embassy in the USA maintains constant contact with compatriots studying in various American states on FLEX programs.
"Under the coordination of the Armenian Embassy in the USA, the American Council ensured the safe transfer of students from 19 states to the city of Chicago with the subsequent flight to Armenia via the Doha-Tbilisi-Yerevan transit route. The Armenian Embassy in the USA and the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Chicago at the Chicago Airport provided Armenian schoolchildren with necessary medical safety equipment. It also coordinated the meeting and escort of Armenian students from one room to another for departure from Doha airport, "Naghdalyan said.
She emphasized that as a result of this interaction 34 students are returning to Yerevan, and another student who studied in the United States as part of the American ACES program. The representative of the foreign ministry also recalled that all of the above students will be subjected to a 14-day quarantine regime upon returning to their homeland.
At the same time, the press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that the above is another good example of cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in the return of their citizens from abroad in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
"We thank the American Council for the quick and trouble-free organization of the return of Armenian schoolchildren, as well as our Georgian partners for their support and effective cooperation," Naghdalyan summed up.
