ArmInfo. The leader of the United Motherland party, Artsakh hero Samvel Babayan made a statement in connection with the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections in the NKR.
In a statement, in particular, it says: <A week passed after the national elections in Artsakh. My silence was not connected with behind-the-scenes negotiations, but with the analysis of the election results. According to the Artsakh Central Election Commission, the United Homeland party will be represented in the National Assembly of Artsakh by 9 deputies.
I would like to thank everyone who expressed their confidence in me and the members of my team, amid very limited resources and unprecedented pressure. I, and the representatives of my political team are responsible for every vote given to us, and we promise that we will do our best to implement the reforms that we presented during the campaign>, Babayan emphasized.
The head of the party emphasized that the elections were held in unequal competitive conditions with clear violations. According to him, members of his political team submitted to the CEC of Artsakh a large list of offenses recorded during the election.
<That is, it is obvious that there is every reason to challenge the election results in court. However, realizing the danger of the current situation in connection with the pandemic, as well as the challenges facing Artsakh,, and in order to avoid artificial shocks, we are ready to come to terms with the results of the past elections.
The reason for this decision was that violations of the electoral process are not the result of an individual approach, but a serious legal gap. In this regard, we note the need for constitutional and legislative reforms. Araik Harutyunyan of Masis Mayilyan was supposed to take part in the second round of the presidential election. Given the current situation, and in particular Masis Mayilian's actual refusal to participate in the elections, I urge my supporters to make their own decision regarding their participation in the elections>, Babayan concluded.
It should be noted that on March 31 the presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Artsakh. As a result of the presidential election, none of the candidates won the 50 + 1 votes necessary for the victory, for this reason the second round will be held on April 14, in which the two candidates with the largest number of votes will participate: Araik Harutyunyan (49.6%) and Masis Mayilyan (26.4%).
Five political forces will be represented in the Artsakh National Assembly: the Free Homeland bloc, the United Homeland parties, the Justice party, the Dashnaktsutyun ARF and the Artsakh Democratic Party.
