ArmInfo. The world today is at a transitional stage, the stage of formation of a new world order. And I do not exclude that coronavirus will also play a role in this formation.
It all depends on when, how and which country will overcome current processes and challenges. This opinion was expressed by ArmInfo, the editor-in-chief of the journal "Russia in Global Affairs", the director for scientific work of the Development and Support Fund of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Fedor Lukyanov.
"Under the current conditions, it is necessary to state the complete impossibility of parallel implementation of political and geopolitical tasks and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Cancellation of changes to the Russian Constitution, withdrawal of the French contingent from Iraq, isolation of the US military outside the US borders are the most obvious examples of this reality. All these tasks go away. to the background before the fight against a single challenge - coronavirus and this is natural, "he said.
Lukyanov emphasized that the South Caucasus also fits into this global logic. And the same suspension of the OSCE monitoring of the situation on the contact line in Artsakh is part of this process. According to him, no country in such a situation is simply unable to think about war. Meanwhile, in the event of a conflict around Artsakh, both warring parties and intermediary countries are fighting with the coronavirus today.
Nevertheless, taking into account the impossibility of completely eliminating one or another version of the development of the situation in the world, states, according to the analyst, pay special attention to security issues, the state of the army, and carry out special measures in this direction. Accordingly, ensuring the security and combat readiness of the armed forces is also important in the event of a situation around the Karabakh conflict.
"Nevertheless, in any case, the threat of the resumption of the Karabakh conflict today is somewhat less relevant than in other periods and under other circumstances. Today, everyone is busy solving completely different internal problems. Coronavirus has pushed politics and geopolitics into the background and this applies to everyone without exception ", the analyst summed up.
