ArmInfo.In connection with the destruction of a wine press of the 19th century during the construction on the territory of the "Dalma Gardens", the Yerevan's Prosecutor turned to the heads of the competent bodies.
According to the report of the Prosecutor General's Office, the category of lands of "Dalma Gardens" was changed on January 11, 2018 on the basis of a government decision, after which the territory of 27.66 hectares at the Monte Melkonyan-31 street was leased by an LLC for a period of 99 years, and on the basis of the permission of the Municipality, construction work was started there. According to the initial examination, no historical and architectural monuments were found in this area, however, a subsequent re-examination revealed objects of historical and cultural value. In total, we are talking about seven monuments of local importance, including a wine press of the XIX century. Meanwhile, due to the concealment of this fact at the stage of construction work, the wine press was destroyed.
In this regard, Prosecutor of Yerevan Gevorg Baghdasaryan sent the relevant documents to Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan and the Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan to detect the officials who made the above-mentioned omissions and discuss the issue of bring them to justice. The necessity of revising the provisions on the discovery, registration and conservation of objects of historical and cultural value is also indicated in order to exclude the possibility of their damage.
