ArmInfo. At present, about 140 Armenian citizens are at the the Upper Lars checkpoint.Press secretaryof the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Anna Naghdalyan stated.

At the same time, she informed that the Consul General of the  Republic of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don Vardan Asoyan arrived at the  checkpoint in order to arrange on-site provision of citizens with  food and basic necessities.  "Some citizens, having listened to the  advice of the Consul General, have already chosen to return to their  home country by air. Negotiations are ongoing with the remaining  citizens to find an acceptable way out of the situation. We urge  Armenian citizens to soberly assess the current situation, trust only  the official newsline and information provided by the Armenian  diplomatic bodies," Naghdalyan emphasized.

It should be noted that due to bad weather conditions, the Georgian  military road connecting Georgia with Russia has been closed for  several days. However, even after the normalization of the situation  and the opening of the road, Armenian citizens will not be able to  enter Armenia via the land route through Georgia due to restrictions  imposed by the Georgian authorities as part of measures to prevent  the spread of a new type of coronavirus. According to the decision of  the Georgian authorities, since March 18, all foreign citizens are  prohibited from entering the country. Restrictions will not affect  only freight.
