ArmInfo. The Central Election Commission of the Artsakh Republic initiated a series of preventive measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in anticipation of the elections scheduled for March 31.
In a statement, in particular, it was noted that pre-planned seminars and meetings of CEC officials with representatives of precinct election commissions in all areas of the Republic and the city of Stepanakert were canceled. On March 31, on the day of voting, preparatory work will be carried out to ensure the sanitary and hygienic condition of precinct centers and the safety of the health of members of precinct election commissions and the voters themselves (in cooperation with officials of the Artsakh Republic Ministry of Healthcare). In addition, steps are being taken to develop and implement formats for reviewing direct contacts with observers and representatives of the media. <Given that active election campaigning is currently underway throughout the republic, we suggest that all participants take measures to review the formats for holding election meetings, avoiding initiating and participating in mass events if possible, strictly following the instructions of the health officials of the Artsakh Republic. Together we must bring to a logical conclusion the upcoming March 31 elections, which are of such important national importance for the Republic of Artsakh>, the statement said.
To note, on March 31 this year, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Artsakh. To date, no cases of coronavirus have been detected in Artsakh.
