ArmInfo. The Belarusian side proposes to establish a joint production of elevator equipment in Armenia. On March 12, reporters, answering a question from ArmInfo regarding the prospects of cooperation between the two countries, the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus Vitaly Drozhzha said.
The Minister drew attention to the fact that very serious attention is paid to the development of infrastructure projects in Armenia. Taking into account the implementation of a program in Yerevan to replace elevator equipment in multi-apartment residential buildings, the Belarusian side proposed to establish an appropriate joint production in Armenia, which could also provide warranty and post-warranty services.
For his part, RA Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan noted that the establishment of this enterprise is one of the possible areas of cooperation. According to him, the proposals of Belarusian partners will be further discussed on a competitive basis. <After making the appropriate decision, we will do our best so that our Belarusian partners find in Armenia all the opportunities for implementing this program, "he noted. According to him, this will not only open up opportunities for the Yerevan Municipality to formulate proposals for the re-equipment of the elevator economy, but also help to find ways to import products. At the same time, Khachatryan also pointed out that in the framework of the 14th meeting of the Armenian- Belarusian intergovernmental commission held today in Yerevan, the importance was noted not only of the elevator, but also of other industries that are developed in Belarus and which are ready, after relocation in Armenia, to strive for neighboring markets.
As previously reported, almost 70% of the elevators operating in Yerevan have been in operation for more than 40 years, while they should have been replaced 25 years ago. According to the Yerevan Municipality, the social significance of the problem and guaranteeing the safety of citizens involves the replacement of 3,500 elevators. In this case, a complete replacement of the fund will be made at the expense of borrowed funds. The pilot program started last year, and involved the replacement of 20 elevators in 10 administrative districts of Yerevan.
