ArmInfo. In the Republic of Armenia, all institutions of power must comply with the Constitution of the country. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on March 10 at a campaign rally in the Syunik region of the Republic.
According to him, the authorities have already managed to bring the election institution and the activities of the government in line with the requirements of the Basic Law. Today, a judicial reform program is being implemented. And in this context, the Constitutional Court is the only institution that does not meet the requirements of the country's Constitution. But the members of the Constitutional Court must understand that, having become the protection of numerous falsifications, they will have to leave at the demand of the people.
Members of the Constitutional Court will learn for themselves who the real owner of the country is, since it is the people who will dismiss all members of the Constitutional Court. The Prime Minister called on voters to go to the referendum, and say "Yes" to the constitutional referendum. "Each vote will be crucial," the head of government said.
He also sharply criticized the position of the former authorities. According to him, the former government constantly raises the question of the allegedly pro-Western policies of the new government, but at the same time constantly complains to European institutions about the alleged pressure exerted on them. "Why are they complaining in Europe? Let them come and speak to the people, they will complain to them about pressure," the prime minister said.
To recall, on February 9, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian scheduled a referendum on constitutional amendments on April 5 this year. Earlier on February 6, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted a decision on submitting draft amendments to the Constitution to the referendum. 88 MPs voted for this decision, against- 15. It is a question of introducing amendments to Article 213 of the Constitution, providing for the dissolution of the Constitutional Court. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan headed the "Yes" campaign, formed by the Civil Contract party. As for the "No" initiative group, its top ten included Ruben Melikyan, Gohar Meloyan, Arsen Babayan, Elinar Vardanyan, Tigran Atanesyan, Astghik Matevosyan, Artak Asatryan, Siranush Sahakyan, Anahit Sargsyan, Arsen Mkrtchyan.
