ArmInfo. Head of the Republican Party of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, received permission from the judiciary to leave the country. Sisak Gabrielyan, the MP from the My Step faction, said this on March 9 during a briefing in parliament.
The MP stressed that recently their faction has been attacked all the time with questions about how it became possible that Serzh Sargsyan, who has travel restrictions imposed on himself, was able to pay a working visit to Brussels.
"I understand that all this looks a little strange, but the question is not addressed. This question should be asked to representatives of the judicial system in Armenia, if they considered that Sargsyan could leave the country without any harm to the investigation, then he can. We do not there's no concern about this visit. We can't dictate to various politicians who they can meet and whom they don't have, "Gabrielyan emphasized.
Regarding whether the current government is afraid that the RPA representatives may return to power again, the MP said: "This question concerns the citizens of Armenia. Today there is such a situation that only citizens have the right to choose whom they want to see in power and who don't. Thus, I want to note that only the citizens of Armenia will decide who to be in power, but if they give their preference to the RPA, then we will take their decision, "Gabrielyan concluded.
It should be noted that third president of Armenia, head of the Republican Party, Serzh Sargsyan, has travel restrictions imposed on himself. Sargsyan is accused of organizing theft on an especially large scale. He was charged under Article 38-179 of the RA Criminal Code.
However, on March 6, Sargsyan launched a working visit to Belgium. The RPA office informed that the third president of Armenia received permission to leave the country in the manner prescribed by law. During the visit, Serzh Sargsyan met with former President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, who is the head of the European People's Party, head of the Wilfried Martens Center, Slovakia's former Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda, former President of Romania Traian Basescu and keynote Rapporteur r on Azerbaijani issues, Zhelyana Zovko and others.
