Lori Bird is a medieval fortress in the Lori region of Armenia, on the left bank of the Dzoraget River, 4 km east of the city of Stepanavan. In the period from 1065 to 1113, Lori was the center of the Armenian Lori (Tashir-Dzoraget) kingdom. Founded by Armenian King David. Currently, only the ruins of some structures of the fortress have been preserved. Earlier, the Lori bird was located on the territory enclosed by deep gorges of the Miskhan and Dzoraget rivers. In the X century a fortress was founded, the citadel of which occupied an area of 9 hectares and was protected by a powerful defensive wall about 200 meters long. Along the wall was a moat filled with water. The citadel gates were installed in the northeastern part of the fortress. The city surrounding the citadel covered an area of about 25 hectares, which was also surrounded by walls, from which only the remains of the foundations were preserved.
