ArmInfo. Repatriates will get the opportunity to import their personal property into the territory of Armenia free of duty. At the March 5 sitting, the RA Government issued a positive opinion on the draft amendments to the Law on Customs Regulation submitted by the National Assembly Deputy Sisak Gabrielyan.
According to the chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia David Ananyan, after numerous discussions, significant changes have been introduced into the bill, which will enable repatriates to import their property without paying customs duties. The innovation will affect both citizens of the country and representatives of the diaspora. On this issue, the SRC will cooperate with the RA Police, in particular with the passport and visa department, and the office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. Each family will have the opportunity to transport three household appliances, one car, one set of used furniture and clothes in unlimited quantities to the territory of the republic. Those who have been absent from Armenia for at least 915 days will be entitled to transportation. Upon arrival in Armenia, they will be required to register their status with the Passport and Visa Department within 60 days, after which they must register their property with the State Customs Office of Ararat within 18 months. This period is necessary for the repatriate to determine his further actions - he remains in the republic, or leaves it.
Earlier, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zare Sinanyan noted that there is repatriation to Armenia, but it has not yet reached the desired scale. He noted that in order to achieve the desired results, it is necessary to create minimum conditions - to simplify bureaucratic processes and create a body that will deal with the integration of Armenians from the diaspora.
