ArmInfo. Syria and Artsakh may be in the same pot. In any case, this is precisely what all the latest processes around the next aggravation of Russian-Turkish relations lead to. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo political scientist Stepan Danielyan.
"We undoubtedly need to make every effort to avoid such a scenario, which is extremely undesirable for Armenia. I think that our diplomacy needed to think about this a long time ago. According to the results of the co-chairmen's trip to Ankara, Cavusoglu's statement threatens to implement such a scenario," - he considers.
Following the meeting held in Ankara on March 2 with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Cavusoglu voiced a call to mediators on a call "to resolve the conflict within the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan."
According to Danielyan's forecasts, the Armenian government is unlikely to be able to digest the achievement of agreement between Moscow and Ankara on Syria at the expense of Artsakh and consent to a similar exchange of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. And the same block "My step" will have to bear full responsibility for this. At the same time, the political scientist suggests that Pashinyan was initially informed about the existence of such a scenario, given his desire to highlight the security of the Artsakh people.
"I really hope that my first impressions of what is happening are wrong. I really hope that the Russians are only trying to buy time, and Turkish President Erdogan will save his own face, explaining to the Turks the goals of reaching an agreement with Russia on Syria. The rest will show time. However, for now, Turkey is acting in Syria, approximately according to the same logic by which Armenia operates in Azerbaijan, "the political scientist believes.
According to his estimates, both Yerevan and Ankara claim that they ensure security in the first case of the Artsakh people, in the second of the Turkish border by keeping the liberated-conquered territories under control. At the same time, both of them are ready to make these territories the subject of bargaining. And in Turkey, such parallels are well seen and, accordingly, are trying to engage in trade with Russia in Syria. At the same time, it is clear that in addition to the parallels between the two situations, there are a number of differences, however, Ankara, for obvious reasons, according to the political scientist, today focuses precisely on the former. Today, March 5, Moscow will host negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Turkey. According to the press secretary of Recep Erdogan Ibrahim Kalyn, Ankara expects to reach an agreement with Moscow to resolve the situation in Idlib following the Moscow talks of the presidents. According to him, the main goal of the upcoming meeting is to ensure a truce in the Syrian province of Idlib.
The situation around Idlib province escalated on February 27, when, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the militants attempted a large-scale offensive. The Syrian military attacked them, as a result of which, according to Ankara, 33 Turkish soldiers were killed. The Russian defense department reported that the Turkish armed forces who had come under fire from the Turkish Armed Forces were among the terrorists.
