ArmInfo. After 2-3 weeks, Armenia may review the restrictions, including with respect to China, introduced in connection with the new type of coronavirus. This was announced on March 5 at a meeting of the RA Government by the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan.
The Minister informed that the condition of the only patient with coronavirus in Armenia, as well as the citizens isolated at the Golden Palace Hotel, was assessed as good, and they had no symptoms. In addition, on the eve of the second test was carried out for coronavirus in the wife of the infected, and he again gave a negative result. According to Torosyan, this indicates that the infectiousness of the virus is not so high. In total, 162 coronavirus tests were conducted in Armenia, of which only one gave a positive result. Torosyan assured that the citizens (31 people) isolated in Golden Palace were provided with everything necessary, including books, access to the Internet and TV. Given that quarantine is valid for 14 days from the date of isolation, all of them will be in a five-star hotel until March 14th.
Speaking about the situation in the world, the head of the Ministry of Health drew attention to the fact that in China there is a sharp decline in new cases of coronavirus, as well as cases of death. In addition, there is a gradual stabilization of the situation in the Chinese province of Hubei, which has become the epicenter of a new virus. Meanwhile, in countries such as Iran, South Korea, Italy, Germany, France and Spain, new cases of coronavirus continue to be recorded. Torosyan expressed hope that after the peak, the incidence in these countries will decline due to the implementation of appropriate preventive measures. He also informed that the Armenian side daily maintains contact with Russia and Georgia to monitor the situation. "After 2-3 weeks, Armenia may revise the restrictions, including with respect to China, introduced in connection with the new type of coronavirus," said Torosyan.
Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan also noted that the Armenian side is conducting an active dialogue with Iran to help counter the coronavirus with joint efforts.
For his part, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araik Harutyunyan informed that classes in educational institutions in Armenia will resume from March 9 in view of the current stable situation. However, he emphasized the fact that the Ministry of Education is in constant contact with the Ministry of Health.
