ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Ministry spoke with clarifications regarding the announcement that the citizens of Armenia and Georgia will soon be able to cross the border with ID cards.
Thus, in a statement, the Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan states that during the meeting in Tbilisi on March 3, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia emphasized the importance of encouraging contacts between people and strengthening ties between societies, and a memorandum of intent was signed in this regard.
"The signing of the memorandum gives rise to negotiations on the conclusion of a corresponding bilateral international agreement. At different stages of the process of conclusion and entry into force of the agreement, in accordance with the law, proper public information will be provided," Naghdalyan noted. On the eve, the Prime Minister of the Parliament from the rostrum said that the citizens of Armenia and Georgia would soon be able to cross the border using ID cards. "Armenia and Georgia signed a memorandum of intent, under which we plan to allow citizens to cross the border using ID cards. We agreed that we will now proceed to implement this agreement," he said.
